Limitations and alternatives
Despite our best efforts to ensure accessibility of KMC Dezign Technologies, there may be some limitations. Below is a description of known limitations and potential solutions.
- Issues with child elements, HTML headings, and duplicate IDs: A scan of the site showed issues with element styles that are not allowed as child elements. It also found duplicate attribute classes and an instance where the same ID is used on more than one element. Additionally, there were problems where a start head tag was seen, but an element of the same type was already open. The scan found an end tag a that violates nesting rules. We are unable to correct these issues with our current website because a rebuild would be required. These issues will be addressed in the next version of our website. Please contact us for further help if needed.
- CSS must be turned on: Absolute CSS positioning can make pages unreadable when style sheets are turned off. Because low vision users often switch off style sheets to make text easier to read, absolute positioning can result in pages that display text out of order when style sheets are turned off. Content inserted with CSS is not read by some screen readers and is not available to people who turn off style sheets, so content should be moved from CSS to the HTML page so all users can see it. We are aware of issues related to CSS that were found in a scan of the website. Impact on users: NVDA 2018.4 IE11 Windows 10 Reading: Text inserted by CSS content property not read. NVDA 2017.3 IE11 Windows 10 Reading: Text inserted by CSS content property not read. NVDA 2016.2 IE11 Windows 10 Reading: Text inserted by CSS content property not read. JAWS 2018.1811.2 IE11 Windows 10 Reading: Text inserted by CSS content property not read. JAWS 18.0.5038 IE11 Windows 10 Reading: Text inserted by CSS content property not read. JAWS 17.0.2619 IE11 Windows 10 Reading: Text inserted by CSS content property not read. We are unable to correct this with our current website because a rebuild would be required. This issue will be addressed in the next version of our website. Please contact us for further help if needed.
